Nevada Organic Phosphate Inc. (CSE: NOP; OTCQB: NOPFF) has started drilling on the first hole of its 2026 exploration program at the Murdock Mountain Project, the company announced. The initial deep drill hole, MM26-7, is designed as a 100-meter step-back from last fall’s MM25-1 to further evaluate the thickness, continuity and phosphate grade characteristics of the Meade Peak Upper Phosphatic Zone at depth.
The company reported minor technical drilling issues that have been identified and are being addressed by contractor FTE Drilling, with operations expected to resume shortly and no material delays anticipated.
This exploration program is significant because Nevada Organic Phosphate holds what is believed to be the only known large-scale organic sedimentary phosphate project in North America. The company’s property in northeast Nevada features a 6.6-kilometer-long organic sedimentary raw rock phosphate bed, with additional applications extending the potential strike to over 30 kilometers. The project is situated close to the main highway to Montello/Elko, Nevada, and near the rail head to California, providing logistical advantages.
The drilling at Murdock Mountain aims to confirm and expand the resource base, which could be critical for domestic phosphate supply. Phosphate is a key ingredient in fertilizers, and the United States relies heavily on imports. A large-scale domestic source could reduce dependence on foreign supplies and support agricultural stability.
