Nexteer Automotive Expands in Liuzhou with New Smart Manufacturing Facility

Nexteer Automotive has commenced construction on a new smart manufacturing facility in Liuzhou, China, a strategic move to bolster its presence in the APAC steering market and cater to increasing demand from both domestic and global OEMs. The facility is designed to enhance in-house production of critical components and foster supply chain integration, featuring a co-location for core suppliers to promote innovation and efficiency.

The new plant, spanning over 40,000 square meters, will focus on producing advanced steering and motion control technologies, such as Column-Assist Electric Power Steering (CEPS) systems and Modular Power Packs. These technologies are pivotal for enhancing vehicle safety, serviceability, and integration, especially for intelligent vehicle platforms. The facility is expected to be fully operational by the first half of 2026, replacing Nexteer's current Liuzhou operations.

Jun Li, Nexteer's Global Vice President and APAC Division President, highlighted the expansion as a strategic response to the growing demand for Nexteer's steering solutions in China and the broader APAC region. The facility will incorporate smart and green manufacturing principles, aligning with local sustainability goals and Nexteer's commitment to responsible innovation.

Robin Milavec, President and Chief Technology Officer of Nexteer Automotive, emphasized the company's approach to thinking globally while acting locally, a strategy that has cemented its leadership among China's top automotive OEMs. The new Liuzhou facility will work in tandem with Nexteer's APAC Technical Center in Suzhou, playing a vital role in the company's global manufacturing network.
