NFL Alumni and American Heart Association Team Up to Promote Heart Health During Men's Health Week
The American Heart Association and NFL Alumni are collaborating to highlight Life’s Essential 8™, key components to prevent heart disease and stroke, during Men’s Health Week, aiming to inspire men to take proactive steps towards better heart health.

The American Heart Association, in partnership with the NFL Alumni Association, is launching a campaign during Men’s Health Week to emphasize the importance of heart health among men. The initiative focuses on Life’s Essential 8™, a set of guidelines designed to prevent heart disease and stroke, which are leading causes of death and disability in the U.S. The campaign features former NFL players advocating for each of the eight health measures, aiming to educate and motivate both retired athletes and the general public to adopt healthier lifestyles.
Life’s Essential 8 includes managing weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar, eating a healthy diet, engaging in physical activity, avoiding smoking, and ensuring adequate sleep. These measures are categorized into health behaviors and health factors, with research supporting their effectiveness in reducing the risk of chronic diseases. The campaign leverages the influence of former NFL players to spread awareness through public service announcements shared on social media platforms.
This collaboration underscores the critical role of preventive health measures in combating heart disease and stroke. By targeting men during Men’s Health Week, the initiative seeks to address the gap in men's health awareness and encourage early adoption of healthy habits. The involvement of high-profile athletes serves to amplify the message, making it more relatable and actionable for the audience. The campaign represents a significant step towards improving public health outcomes by leveraging sports figures' influence to promote essential health practices.
