NFL Star Jarvis Landry Supports Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County with Sneaker Giveaway
Jarvis Landry's partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County for the 'Lace Up for Learning' event highlights the importance of community support in boosting children's confidence and readiness for the school year.

The annual 'Lace Up for Learning' event, hosted by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County, saw NFL star Jarvis Landry joining forces to distribute over 500 pairs of sneakers to children in need, emphasizing the role of community and mentorship in fostering youth confidence and academic readiness.
Landry, through his foundation The Impact Group Project, not only sponsored the hydration station but also actively participated in the event, engaging with families and helping hand out sneakers. His involvement underscores the significant impact that community figures can have in supporting educational initiatives and children's self-esteem. 'Starting school with a new pair of shoes will do wonders for a child’s self-esteem,' Landry remarked, highlighting the event's deeper purpose beyond the material donation.
The event, presented by Ana G. Mendez University and sponsored by several organizations including Good Greek Moving and Storage and Comcast, offered more than just footwear. Families enjoyed a day filled with field games, music, and a barbeque, while over 300 students received fully stocked school supply kits thanks to the BBX Capital Foundation. Malena Mendez, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County, pointed out that 'Lace Up for Learning is more than just about the sneakers. It’s about ensuring every child starts the school year feeling confident, prepared and supported because that’s when real success begins.'
This initiative is a testament to the power of community collaboration in addressing the needs of underprivileged children, providing them with not just the tools for academic success but also the confidence to pursue their dreams.
