This effort addresses the critical issue of shelter overcrowding, with approximately 2.8 million dogs and cats entering animal shelters in the first half of 2025 alone. The brands have partnered with local rescues and hosted in-store adoption events to create meaningful connections between pets and loving families.
The initiative's importance is underscored by concerning statistics from the Shelter Animals Count National Database, which reveals that about 366,000 shelter animals experienced non-live outcomes such as euthanasia between January and June 2025. While dog and cat adoptions have slightly decreased compared to 2024, the adoption rate for juvenile dogs is rising, though fewer adult and senior dogs are being adopted. The length of stay for dogs of all sizes increased in 2024, highlighting the ongoing challenges in animal welfare.
