Ross Dress for Less Expands Detroit Presence with Four New Stores, Creating Hundreds of Jobs

Ross Stores, operator of the largest off-price retail chain in the United States, announced the opening of four new Ross Dress for Less stores in the Detroit metropolitan area on October 11th. This expansion represents a strategic move to strengthen the company's presence in Michigan while creating substantial employment opportunities across the region.

Richard Lietz, Executive Vice President of Property Development, stated that the company is excited to grow its presence in the Detroit area with the addition of four new stores across the local community. This expansion represents a step forward in our efforts to reach more customers with high quality merchandise, great brands, and incredible savings. The company's commitment extends beyond retail operations, with planned community investments including a total of $20,000 in donations to local Boys & Girls Clubs and The Carpenter Elementary School via First Book Marketplace.

The new locations include stores at 23647 Greenfield Rd. in Southfield, 3181 Fairlane Dr. in Allen Park, 8393 W. Grand River Ave. in Brighton, and 3675 Washtenaw Ave. in Ann Arbor. Operating hours vary by location, with most stores open from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. or 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily, extending to 10:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays at some locations.

Each of the four new stores ranges from 22,000 to 23,500 square feet in size and is expected to create between 55-60 jobs per location, consisting of both full- and part-time positions. This expansion will bring approximately 220-240 new employment opportunities to the Detroit metropolitan area at a time when retail employment remains crucial to local economies.

The company's community support extends to multiple local organizations, including The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan at both the Lloyd H. Diehl Club and Dick & Sandy Dauch Campus NFL/YET locations, The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint Peak Extension, and The Carpenter Elementary School through First Book Marketplace. These donations align with Ross Stores' stated commitment to investing in communities where they operate stores.

Following these October openings, Ross Dress for Less will operate 23 stores throughout Michigan, significantly expanding the company's footprint in the state. As an S&P 500, Fortune 500, and Nasdaq 100 company with fiscal 2024 revenues of $21.1 billion, Ross Stores continues to demonstrate the strength of the off-price retail model. The company operates Ross Dress for Less, the largest off-price apparel and home fashion chain in the United States with 1,873 locations across 44 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico as of August 2, 2025.
