Seattle Legal Community Raises $105,000 for Youth Music Education Through Law Rocks Concert
Seattle's legal professionals raised significant funds for underprivileged youth music programs through the second annual Law Rocks concert, demonstrating the legal industry's growing commitment to community philanthropy.

The Seattle legal community demonstrated its philanthropic power as the second annual Law Rocks concert raised $105,000 for youth music education programs, with most funds remaining in the local community to benefit underprivileged children. The event, held at The Crocodile on September 25, featured six amateur bands comprised of legal professionals from various Seattle law firms competing in what organizers describe as an epic battle of the bands fundraising concert.
Law Rocks is an international foundation with a mission to fund music education for underprivileged youth, partnering with local nonprofit organizations in each host city. The organization has raised $9 million and toured to 31 cities across five continents since implementing its Music Matters grant program two years ago. Nick Child, Law Rocks Founder, explained the organization's dual purpose: Our goal is to raise money for those less fortunate than ourselves, while giving the legal industry the chance to realize their potential as rock stars!
The event attracted significant participation from Seattle's legal community, with Herschensohn Law Firm serving as featured sponsors and providing judges for the competition. Over 600 tickets were sold for this year's event, and organizers anticipate even higher turnout for 2026. The concert format combines musical performance with charitable fundraising, creating what participants describe as a unique opportunity for legal professionals to contribute to their community while showcasing their musical talents.
The Overall Winner and Hustle & Heart Award went to The Funk Docket, featuring legal talent from Schroeter Goldmark & Bender, The Law Offices of Edward H. Moore, Keller Rohrback, and L.M. Jones, which performed to benefit the Academy for Creating Excellence (ACE). The Judges' Choice Award went to The Lumberjax, featuring legal talent from Christensen O'Connor Johnson Kindness, rocking for Teen Talking Circles. These awards recognize both musical excellence and fundraising achievement, highlighting the event's dual focus on entertainment and philanthropy.
The success of Seattle's Law Rocks event reflects a growing trend of professional communities leveraging their resources and talents to address local social needs. By focusing on music education for underserved youth, the legal industry contributes to arts accessibility while building stronger community connections. The substantial fundraising results demonstrate the potential for professional networks to generate meaningful social impact when channeled toward well-organized charitable initiatives.
