SolarBank Advances New York Community Solar Project, Targeting 540 Homes

SolarBank Corp. announced the development of a new ground-mount solar project in upstate New York, positioning itself to contribute to the state's renewable energy goals. The 4.584 megawatt DC installation will generate clean energy for approximately 540 homes through New York's community solar framework.

The Forest Hill Rd project represents a strategic expansion of SolarBank's renewable energy portfolio. By leveraging New York's Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER) compensation structure and NYSERDA incentives, the company can maximize the project's economic viability while supporting local sustainable energy infrastructure.

Working in partnership with Solar Simplified for subscriber management, SolarBank can concentrate on project development and future expansion. The project's successful completion could provide meaningful cost savings for local residents and reduce carbon emissions by generating renewable electricity.

The solar installation underscores the growing trend of distributed energy projects that enable communities to access clean energy without individual rooftop solar investments. By creating a scalable model for community solar, SolarBank contributes to broader efforts to transition toward more sustainable energy systems.
