SolarBank Corp. Advances Community Solar in Upstate New York with 7.2 MW Project

SolarBank Corporation has announced plans to develop a 7.2 MW ground-mount solar installation in upstate New York, marking a significant expansion of community solar infrastructure in the region. The Glor Rd project will provide local residents with clean energy access through a innovative community solar model that eliminates the need for individual solar panel installations.

The project will operate under New York's Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER) rate mechanism and is expected to qualify for incentives from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) NY-Sun Program. With a secured site lease and interconnection study in progress, the project represents a strategic investment in distributed renewable energy.

Solar Simplified will manage customer-facing activities, ensuring full project subscription and maximizing revenue potential. This approach allows community members to benefit from solar energy without the upfront costs and technical complexities of personal solar panel systems.

The project underscores SolarBank's commitment to expanding renewable energy infrastructure across North America. As part of the company's diverse portfolio, this solar installation contributes to the broader transition toward clean, sustainable energy solutions.
