SolarBank Expands New York Community Solar Portfolio with 4.584 MW Ground-Mount Project

SolarBank Corporation has announced plans to develop a 4.584 MW DC ground-mount solar project in upstate New York, expanding its community solar initiatives. The Forest Hill Rd project represents a strategic investment in renewable energy infrastructure, with the project site lease secured and an interconnection study currently in progress.

The project is positioned to benefit from New York's Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER) rate mechanism and NYSERDA NY-Sun incentives, which could provide financial advantages for the development. By targeting community solar, SolarBank is contributing to localized renewable energy generation that can provide more accessible clean energy options for regional residents and businesses.

Notably, the company has emphasized its supply chain resilience amid recent U.S. tariff increases on solar imports from Southeast Asia. SolarBank has proactively mitigated potential disruptions by sourcing solar panels from cost-competitive regions including the Middle East and North America, ensuring continued project development momentum.

This latest project adds to SolarBank's growing renewable energy portfolio, which currently includes over 100 megawatts of developed projects and a potential development pipeline exceeding one gigawatt across North American markets. The expansion underscores the company's commitment to distributed solar generation and community-focused renewable energy solutions.
