Spin has initiated a comprehensive fleet upgrade in Baltimore, introducing the C1 scooter model to enhance safety, accessibility, and community mobility. This move underscores Baltimore's importance as a key market for innovative and inclusive transportation solutions. With over 95% of its fleet now consisting of the C1 model, Spin is setting new standards in the U.S. shared micromobility sector. The scooters have already facilitated more than 80,000 rides in the past month, highlighting their growing role in sustainable urban transit.

The C1 model features several advancements aimed at improving rider experience and safety. These include a lower deck height and center of gravity for better balance, a front-mounted battery design for durability, and built-in conveniences like a wireless phone charger. Additionally, upgraded telemetry and sidewalk riding detection technologies enhance compliance with safety regulations, while stronger construction reduces vandalism risks.

Austin Spademan, Director of Government Partnerships at Spin, emphasized the fleet's focus on performance and inclusivity, noting Baltimore's early access to these advancements. The initiative also supports Baltimore's broader transportation and equity objectives, such as reducing emissions and improving first- and last-mile connectivity. Tyler Smith of the Baltimore City Department of Transportation praised Spin's commitment to sustainable mobility, highlighting the collaborative effort to achieve these goals.
