Standard Lithium Secures $225M DOE Grant, Advances Southwest Arkansas Lithium Project

Standard Lithium has achieved multiple strategic milestones in its Southwest Arkansas lithium project, signaling potential advancement in domestic mineral production and clean energy infrastructure. The company secured a substantial $225 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy and received unanimous approval for its first brine production unit.

In collaboration with Equinor under the Smackover Lithium joint venture, Standard Lithium completed final field-pilot testing with an impressive lithium recovery rate exceeding 99%. The project has been designated a priority under Executive Order 14241, which aims to boost American mineral production and reduce reliance on foreign mineral supply chains.

The company's strong financial position, with $31.6 million in cash and no outstanding debt, provides a solid foundation for continued project development. Standard Lithium remains on track to pursue additional permitting and royalty approvals in the second quarter of 2025.

This development represents a significant step toward establishing a domestic lithium production capability, which could have critical implications for electric vehicle manufacturing, renewable energy storage, and national energy security. The project's high lithium recovery rate and strategic location in the Smackover Formation suggest potential for scalable and sustainable lithium extraction.
