Studio Pilates International Williamsburg Emerges as Global Leader Through Community-Focused Approach
The rapid success of Studio Pilates International Williamsburg, achieving over 1,250 clients and global recognition within nine months, demonstrates how community-driven wellness businesses can thrive by prioritizing genuine relationships over transactional fitness models.

Studio Pilates International Williamsburg has become one of the highest-performing locations worldwide within its first nine months of operation, welcoming more than 1,250 new clients and launching three Amplify Challenges with over 150 participants. Founded by Jason Wong and Wati Longchar in September 2024, the studio's success stems from a community-first approach that prioritizes genuine relationships over mere Pilates instruction.
Wati Longchar first discovered Studio Pilates International as a client at the South Slope location in 2021, where she experienced transformative physical and mental benefits. Inspired by her personal transformation, the couple combined their professional backgrounds—Jason's expertise in hospitality, marketing, and wellness-focused nutrition programs from operating successful vegetarian restaurants in NYC, and Wati's management consulting experience serving banking and capital markets clients—to create a unique wellness hub.
The studio's rapid growth is attributed to its intentional community-building strategies, including partnerships with local brands such as Talea Beer Co., Jones Road Beauty, ON, and Skincare by Sol. These collaborations reflect the owners' commitment to supporting immigrant-founded and minority-owned businesses that align with their values of wellness and authenticity. Many partners' founders and staff are also clients, creating mutually supportive relationships that extend beyond business transactions.
Jason Wong emphasizes that their success comes from leading with heart rather than focusing solely on Pilates sales. The studio maintains a client-first mentality through intentional touchpoints including instructor mentorship programs, front desk training, and community events. This approach has created a supportive, inclusive environment that meets clients at every fitness level with energy and encouragement.
The business's operational structure divides responsibilities strategically, with Wati serving as CEO and CFO overseeing finances and systems, while Jason acts as COO and CMO managing operations, team leadership, and community partnerships. Their parenting philosophy of fostering independence and strong character directly influences their leadership style at the studio, emphasizing patience, communication, and growth mindset.
Despite challenges during the buildout phase, including construction delays and cost management, the couple's shared vision and community support propelled them forward. Their biggest ongoing challenge remains finding team members with the right mindset—individuals who embody their core value of being team players who show up with support, empathy, and zero judgment.
Building on their Williamsburg success, Jason and Wati are preparing to expand with a second location in Long Island City, drawn to the neighborhood's growth, diversity, and health-conscious residents. The expansion represents both a strategic business move and personal significance for Jason, a Queens native whose first apartment was in Long Island City. The new location will create leadership opportunities for their team while maintaining the community-driven culture through systematic scaling of their personal touch approach.
Looking five years ahead, the owners envision leading a small network of community-first studios across NYC and possibly beyond, with Jason focusing on operations and partnerships while Wati guides financial growth and strategy. Their definition of success encompasses alignment across business sustainability, community contribution, and family fulfillment—creating opportunities, championing local businesses, and being catalysts for positive impact in others' lives.
