Syndee Winters Pays Tribute to Lena Horne with New Jazz Album

Syndee Winters, a celebrated Broadway star and rising jazz vocalist, is set to release a tribute album titled 'Syndee Winters Sings Lena Horne' on June 30, coinciding with what would have been Lena Horne's 108th birthday. The album, distributed worldwide by The Orchard/Sony Music, is a 10-track homage to the incomparable icon, blending Broadway polish with deep jazz roots.

Winters, known for her roles in 'Hamilton', 'Motown', and 'The Lion King' on Broadway, brings her vocal control and interpretive nuance to jazz, reimagining classic selections like 'Stormy Weather' and 'If You Believe' with grace and soul. The album also features 'Alive', an original composition by Andromeda Turre, exploring resilience as a spiritual companion to Horne's defiant artistry.

Executive produced by Eulis Cathey and associate produced by Carl Griffin, the project includes performances by this generation's renowned jazz musicians, such as Michael Eckroth and Freddie Hendrix. Winters' Caribbean American heritage adds a cultural dimension to the tribute, embodying the legacy Horne stood for: elegance, excellence, and evolution.

Winters will perform selections from the album live at LACMA's Jazz Fridays Series in Los Angeles on July 25 and at the NEA Jazz Master Donald Harrison's Second Annual Quantum Leap Music Festival from August 14-17 in Cutchogue, NY. The album will be available for streaming everywhere on June 30.
