TBC Uzbekistan Opens Digital Banking Services to Foreign Nationals

TBC Bank Uzbekistan has expanded access to its digital banking services to non-residents in Uzbekistan, allowing foreign nationals living in or visiting the country to utilize its comprehensive suite of financial products. This strategic move represents a significant expansion of the digital banking ecosystem's customer base and aligns with Uzbekistan's growing integration into the global economy.

The expansion enables non-residents to access TBC UZ's flagship Salom Debit Card, deposits, transfers, utility payments, and other services through the TBC UZ app. Foreign nationals will receive the same seamless digital experience as existing customers, reflecting the bank's commitment to maintaining consistent service quality across all user segments. This development comes as TBC Uzbekistan, which already serves 21 million unique registered users representing more than 50% of Uzbekistan's population, continues to scale its presence by broadening product offerings and tapping new customer segments.

Nika Kurdiani, CEO of TBC Uzbekistan, emphasized the strategic importance of this expansion, stating that the company is opening a new gateway to Uzbekistan's financial system for people who come to study, work, or build businesses. The move creates new opportunities for financial integration of highly-skilled expatriate workers, students, and entrepreneurs while fueling growth in the digital economy. By tapping into this sustainable new customer segment, TBC Uzbekistan aims to boost customer loyalty, engagement, and generate diversified revenue streams.

The registration process for new non-resident customers involves remote application through the TBC UZ app, requiring verification via international passport, proof of temporary registration in Uzbekistan, personal identification number, and local phone number. Currently, TBC representatives can only meet customers in Tashkent to complete the onboarding process, though this service is scheduled to expand nationwide before year-end. The broader TBC Uzbekistan ecosystem, which includes digital payments platform Payme, installment credit business TBC Nasiya, and fully-digital TBC Insurance, already offers some services to non-residents through its Payme platform.

This expansion represents a strategic milestone for TBC Uzbekistan, which achieved profitability just two years after launch—a record among global digital banks. The company reported operating income of USD 62 million in the second quarter of 2025, with loan and deposit books growing 105% and 86% year-over-year respectively. The move to include non-residents demonstrates TBC Uzbekistan's confidence in its technology infrastructure and customer service capabilities while positioning the company to capture value from Uzbekistan's increasing international connectivity.
