Texas Builder Transitions from Construction to Ministry, Aiding Churches and Communities

Jerry Lewis, a Shelby County native, spent over two decades leading construction projects across Texas, growing his company into a thriving multi-million-dollar operation. However, Lewis stepped away from his business to pursue what he describes as full-time ministry in everyday life, emphasizing that his story has never been about business but about calling.

His work has taken him across borders, from helping missionaries build facilities in Mexico to advising community projects in Ghana. Lewis believes faith should be lived, not just spoken, stating, Ministry doesn't start at 11 a.m. on Sunday. It starts in the parking lot, the jobsite, or the kitchen table. Wherever people are — that's where God shows up.

Lewis currently consults pro bono with a congregation threatened with the loss of its property to a Texas Department of Transportation project, serving as their advocate to secure fair compensation and preserve their ability to continue operating. He notes, Sometimes churches just need a voice. I try to give them one. His ability to blend practical expertise with spiritual leadership has made him a trusted guide for congregations navigating construction and crisis.

At home, Lewis is a devoted father of three, emphasizing that family stability is part of a person's witness. His mission centers on serving faithfully, encouraging others, and reminding people that God is near, with a message to love God and love people. To some, he is a builder; to others, a mentor or friend, but Lewis focuses on living a life for others and for the glory of God.
