The Dog Stop Expands to Oviedo, Bringing Comprehensive Pet Care Services to Central Florida
The Dog Stop's new Oviedo location represents a strategic expansion in the growing pet care industry, combining experienced business leadership with specialized canine expertise to address rising demand for premium pet services.

The Dog Stop, an award-winning dog care brand, will open its newest location in Oviedo, Florida on October 18, bringing comprehensive pet services to Central Florida's growing dog community. The 10,000-square-foot facility at 1370 Oviedo Mall Blvd will offer luxury boarding, interactive daycare, expert training, spa-like grooming, and premium retail products, positioning itself as a complete destination for local pet owners.
Owner Justin Steiner, a Vanderbilt Business School valedictorian with extensive consulting experience, is leading the expansion after transitioning from corporate roles to pursue his passion for pet care. Steiner's decision to enter the industry was driven by both personal experience with rescued greyhounds and a negative incident at another boarding facility that reinforced his commitment to safety and quality standards. His business background combined with genuine care for animals creates a unique approach to pet services that prioritizes trust and relationship-building over corporate metrics.
Steiner was specifically drawn to The Dog Stop because of co-founder Jesse Coslov's continued involvement in the company and the brand's philosophy that pets are family members deserving of specialized care. "I believe that pets are part of the family, and I saw that same philosophy reflected in The Dog Stop," Steiner explained. "Their team understands what dogs really need and has built a business and approach dedicated entirely to meeting those needs."
The Oviedo location will be managed by Shaun Philbrook, whose 15-year career with the Winter Springs Police Department included serving as a K9 officer and leadership roles that provided extensive expertise in canine behavior, psychology, and physiology. Philbrook's background working with dogs in high-pressure environments, combined with his deep community roots as a Winter Springs High School graduate and UCF alumnus, positions him to deliver the level of care local pet parents expect.
The expansion reflects broader trends in the pet care industry, where premium services are experiencing significant growth as pet ownership increases and owners seek higher-quality care options. Steiner plans to grow to five locations in the region and is actively seeking rescue partnerships to host adoption events in the facility's large lobby area, demonstrating the company's community-focused approach.
According to company leadership, Steiner embodies the qualities The Dog Stop seeks in franchise owners. "His passion and love for dogs will ensure he provides the high standard of care we are committed to, and we are excited to watch Central Florida benefit from his dedication and vision," said Coslov. The company, which has been owned and operated by dog people since 2009, emphasizes staying current with evolving science in dog care, behavior, grooming, and nutrition.
To celebrate the opening, The Dog Stop Oviedo will host a Halloween-themed grand opening celebration on October 25 featuring a dog costume contest, giveaways, and community activities. The event aims to establish the facility as a hub for Orlando's dog community while introducing local pet owners to the comprehensive services available.
