The Works Transforms Atlanta's Upper Westside into Holiday Destination with Expanded Festive Offerings

The Works mixed-use development in Atlanta's Upper Westside is expanding its holiday programming with new festive experiences designed to drive community engagement and support local businesses during the critical holiday shopping season. The "All The Joyful Things" celebration introduces several first-time attractions, including Big John's Christmas Trees operating from November 18 to December 23, marking the development's inaugural indoor Christmas tree lot. This partnership provides shoppers with fresh-cut trees and handcrafted wreaths in a climate-controlled environment, addressing weather concerns that typically affect traditional outdoor tree lots.

The holiday activation represents a strategic effort to position The Works as a regional holiday destination while supporting its 30+ tenants through increased foot traffic. Director of Marketing and Placemaking at Selig Enterprises, Taana Kow-Mayes, emphasized that the programming aims to bring the community together through shared experiences. The development's approach combines traditional holiday elements with unique offerings, including live reindeer appearances at The Camp on December 5 and multiple opportunities for photos with The Real Black Santa, with sessions scheduled for November 8, 15, and December 13.

Beyond the headline attractions, the programming includes diverse activities catering to different demographics. Musical performances feature prominently, with Tinseltone Carolers appearing on November 22 and Christmas Back Home with Scott Thompson performing at The Camp on November 29. Pet owners can participate in Holiday Pet Pics with Woof Gang on November 29, while those seeking more energetic celebrations can attend the Disco Santa: Beanies + Beats event on December 6 featuring live DJ entertainment.

The economic implications extend throughout the development's retail and dining offerings. Y3S will host multiple events including a Friendsgiving celebration on November 26, Black Friday promotions, and New Year's Eve festivities. Chattahoochee Food Works brings back its annual Jingle Bar starting November 28, serving festive cocktails throughout the season. Specialty retailers like Adelina Social Goods are offering holiday-themed workshops, including a Cocktails for a Crowd class on November 9 and a Holiday Gift Wrap Workshop on December 7. Additional shopping opportunities include pop-ups from athletic-wear brand BAIR by Bria on December 13-14 and ongoing promotions at establishments including Ballard Designs, Swan Space, and Eric Austin Custom.

The comprehensive programming demonstrates how mixed-use developments can leverage seasonal events to create economic synergy between entertainment, retail, and dining components. By transforming into a holiday destination, The Works aims to capture consumer spending that might otherwise go to traditional shopping malls or online retailers. The strategy reflects broader trends in commercial real estate where experiential offerings are increasingly critical for driving visitation and supporting tenant businesses during key retail periods.
