Trilogy Metals Welcomes Alaska Land Transfer, Potential Boost for Ambler Mining District
The U.S. Department of the Interior transferred 1.4 million acres to Alaska, potentially supporting the Ambler Road project and critical mineral development in the Ambler Mining District, where Trilogy Metals holds a significant interest.

Trilogy Metals Inc. (NYSE American: TMQ) (TSX: TMQ) has welcomed the U.S. Department of the Interior's decision to transfer approximately 1.4 million acres of federal land within Alaska's Dalton Utility Corridor to the State of Alaska. The company said this move could support infrastructure development, including the proposed Ambler Road project, and help advance critical mineral exploration and development in the Ambler Mining District.
The land transfer is seen as a pivotal step for the Ambler Mining District, which hosts one of the richest and most-prospective known copper-dominant districts in the world. The district contains polymetallic volcanic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits with copper, zinc, lead, gold, and silver, as well as carbonate replacement deposits with high-grade copper and cobalt mineralization. Trilogy Metals holds a 50 percent interest in Ambler Metals LLC, which has a 100 percent interest in the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects (UKMP) located within the district.
The Ambler Road project, a proposed 211-mile industrial access road, would connect the district to existing transportation infrastructure, potentially unlocking significant mineral resources. The land transfer to the State of Alaska is expected to facilitate permitting and development of such infrastructure, which is crucial for mining operations in the remote region.
Exploration efforts in the district have focused on two deposits: the Arctic VMS deposit and the Bornite carbonate replacement deposit, both located within a land package spanning approximately 190,929 hectares. Ambler Metals has an agreement with NANA Regional Corporation, Inc., an Alaska Native Corporation, providing a framework for exploration and potential development in cooperation with local communities. Trilogy Metals' vision is to develop the Ambler Mining District into a premier North American copper producer while protecting subsistence livelihoods.
The news comes as global demand for critical minerals, including copper, is expected to rise significantly due to the transition to clean energy technologies. The Ambler Mining District's potential to supply these minerals adds strategic importance to the land transfer and infrastructure development.
