The Truro Community Kitchen (TCK) has launched its fourth annual virtual fundraising auction, running from November 22 to December 2, to combat escalating food insecurity in the Outer Cape region. This online event features diverse items including Broadway tickets, travel packages, and artwork from local Truro artisans, with all proceeds directly supporting TCK's mission to provide free, nutritious meals and strengthen community connections.
Wendy Lurie, TCK Co-Founder and Board President, emphasized the growing need for food assistance, stating that rising food costs, a tight job market, and reductions in federal food aid have created unprecedented demand among families and seniors. The auction represents a critical fundraising mechanism that allows community members to support TCK's mission while receiving valuable items in return.
Bidders can participate through the Bidding For Good platform, where proceeds directly fund TCK's expanding meal programs. These now include a free monthly dinner open to residents of Truro, Provincetown, and Wellfleet, hosted at the Truro Central School. The organization maintains its commitment to providing meals without questions or cost barriers.
