tZERO Appoints AI Innovator Shobhit Khandelwal to Board Amid Digital Transformation Push
Blockchain infrastructure firm tZERO has appointed technology leader Shobhit Khandelwal to its board of directors, signaling a strategic focus on integrating artificial intelligence and advanced data systems into its regulated digital asset marketplace.

tZERO Group, Inc., a blockchain-powered multi-asset infrastructure company, has appointed Shobhit Khandelwal to its Board of Directors. The appointment comes as tZERO works to deliver on its reset strategic priorities following Alan Konevsky's appointment as Chief Executive Officer. Khandelwal brings deep expertise in technology strategy, distributed systems, and applied artificial intelligence to the board.
As founder and CEO of ShyftLabs, a global data and AI product company, and Carter, a privacy-first retail media platform, Khandelwal has built and scaled advanced analytics solutions for enterprises across retail, government, and healthcare sectors. His experience includes extensive work with tZERO's investors and partners, including Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. Khandelwal's background also includes leadership roles at Citigroup, Walmart, and Jet.com, where he specialized in embedding intelligence and automation into enterprise operations.
"Shobhit's appointment is key as we evolve tZERO's technology stack and expand our multi-asset digital infrastructure in the US and globally," said Alan Konevsky, CEO of tZERO. "His fluency with disciplines central to building compliant, high-performance marketplaces and experience integrating AI and data-driven automation into regulated environments will help us transform, scale and deepen collaboration with our shareholders and strategic partners."
The board addition reinforces tZERO's focus on bridging blockchain innovation, regulatory integrity, and technical excellence. Khandelwal will provide guidance on how emerging technologies—including AI, data interoperability, and tokenization frameworks—can further enhance tZERO's product roadmap and global reach. This strategic move comes as tZERO continues building institutional infrastructure to support tokenized assets and other on-chain financial products.
"Having someone with Shobhit's technical depth and product vision on our board adds tremendous value at this inflection point for tZERO," said Matt Mosman, Chairman of the Board of tZERO and Partner at Pelion Venture Partners. "His experience scaling data-driven organizations will help guide tZERO as it continues building the institutional infrastructure to support tokenized assets and other on-chain financial products."
Marcus Lemonis, Executive Chairman and Principal Executive Officer of Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc., tZERO's largest investor, emphasized Khandelwal's expertise in scalable architectures and emerging technologies. "Having worked with him previously, I know that his expertise, maturity, and focus will bring a valuable new dimension to the board as tZERO continues to innovate across the digital asset landscape," Lemonis stated.
tZERO operates as a pioneer in blockchain and tokenization for capital markets, providing institutional-grade technology and a regulated marketplace for the issuance, trading, and settlement of digital securities and other real-world assets. The company's broker-dealer subsidiaries include tZERO Digital Asset Securities, LLC, which is registered with the SEC and a member of FINRA and SIPC. Khandelwal holds a degree from Columbia University and brings his extensive experience in enterprise technology transformation to tZERO's board at a critical juncture in the company's development.
