UGI Utilities Announces Hazleton System Upgrades, Potential for Natural Gas Conversion
UGI Utilities is set to commence a significant system upgrade in Hazleton, promising enhanced safety and reliability, with the added benefit of natural gas conversion opportunities for local residents and businesses.

UGI Utilities is embarking on a critical infrastructure upgrade in Hazleton, starting June 24, focusing on Berner Avenue between South Cedar Street and South Poplar Street. This project underscores UGI's dedication to maintaining safe and reliable service, while also offering an opportunity for some to switch to natural gas, a cleaner energy source.
The upgrade involves replacing a gas main, necessitating road closures and parking restrictions during construction hours, 7am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. While access for residents and businesses in the affected area will be maintained, natural gas service interruptions are expected, requiring UGI to access properties for equipment inspection and relighting.
Anticipated for completion by mid-July, the project's timeline may extend due to weather or working conditions, with final paving and restoration to follow. This initiative not only aims to modernize Hazleton's energy infrastructure but also presents a pivotal chance for the community to embrace natural gas, aligning with broader environmental and efficiency goals.
