UNCF Hosts 12-Hour Radiothon to Raise $25,000 for Scholarships on 81st Anniversary

The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) will host its Second Annual UNCF/Omni-Channel Radio Radiothon on April 25, 2025, aiming to raise $25,000 through a unique donor engagement strategy. The 12-hour event will feature a parade of celebrities and musicians supporting the organization's mission of providing educational opportunities for Black students.

The radiothon's innovative '$25 - 25 - $25' campaign encourages 1,000 listeners to donate $25 on the organization's Founder's Day. Broadcast live on the Omni-Channel Radio App and website, the event will feature prominent entertainers and public figures including Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Smokey Robinson, and Jalen Hurts.

UNCF's impact is significant in higher education. Despite representing only 3% of colleges nationwide, UNCF institutions award 13% of bachelor's degrees, 10% of doctoral degrees, and 24% of STEM degrees earned by Black students. The organization supports over 50,000 students annually across more than 1,100 colleges.

The radiothon underscores the critical role of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in producing influential professionals. Seventy percent of Black doctors, fifty percent of Black lawyers, and eighty percent of Black judges are HBCU graduates, including notable alumni like Vice President Kamala Harris, Rev. Jesse Jackson, and Oprah Winfrey.

By raising funds and awareness, UNCF continues its mission to provide educational opportunities and strengthen minority education across the United States.
