Verizon Expands Cybersecurity Services with New Home Protection and Enhanced Mobile Security

Verizon is introducing new cybersecurity services and enhancing existing protection tools during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, responding to escalating digital threats facing consumers. The telecommunications giant unveiled Digital Secure Home, a new service protecting home networks, alongside a major refresh of the Verizon Protect mobile security app.

Che Phillip, Senior Vice President of Consumer Device Marketing at Verizon, emphasized the company's commitment to security. "Our customers trust us to connect them to the things and people they love the most, and securing that connection sits at the heart of our promise," Phillip stated.

The timing of these security enhancements comes as cyber threats continue to evolve. The 2025 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report found that exploitation of vulnerabilities as an initial access vector for breaches grew by 34% from last year, highlighting the increasing importance of robust digital security measures.

Digital Secure Home, managed through the Verizon Home app, offers two tiers of protection for home networks. The entry-level service is available at no additional cost with Fios Home Internet service and provides Vulnerability Assessments and Malicious Website Protection. For enhanced security, Digital Secure Home Plus costs $5.99 per month and adds advanced features including protection against botnet and brute force attacks, abnormal device behavior detection, and safeguards for sensitive data on router-connected devices.

Simultaneously, Verizon has refreshed its Verizon Protect app with new features designed to give customers greater insight into their online safety. The updated app includes a Security Rating system that provides a dynamic score showing how secure personal data is, along with personalized insights for improvement. Security Categories allow users to assess their protection across four key areas: Identity, Device, Network and Online, with recommended actions to strengthen security in each category.

For mobile device protection, Verizon is highlighting its Fall Open Enrollment period for Verizon Mobile Protect, available through November 3. The service offers comprehensive coverage against loss, theft, damage including liquid damage, and post-warranty malfunctions. Benefits include unlimited claims, unlimited cracked screen repairs at no additional cost, 24/7 premium tech support, and same-day device delivery and setup in some cases.

Customers can download the Verizon Home app from Google Play™ and Apple's App Store®, while the Verizon Protect app is available through the company's mobile platforms. Additional information about Verizon Mobile Protect can be found on Verizon's official channels.

These security enhancements represent Verizon's broader strategy to provide comprehensive protection services beyond traditional connectivity. As cyber threats become more sophisticated, the company aims to deliver integrated security solutions that protect customers across their digital ecosystem, from home networks to mobile devices.
