American Heart Association Recognizes Nearly 5,000 Organizations for Excellence in Cardiovascular Care

The American Heart Association has acknowledged 4,859 health care and emergency response organizations across the United States for their dedication to enhancing cardiovascular care, marking a significant increase from the previous year. This recognition underscores the critical role of evidence-based treatments and collaborative care in combating heart disease and stroke, which remain leading causes of death in the U.S.

Through its Get With The Guidelines® and other quality improvement initiatives, the Association supports health care teams in applying the latest scientific research to treatment decisions. These programs aim to ensure that patients receive timely, consistent, and research-backed care. Awards are categorized by condition, including stroke, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation, with levels from bronze to gold plus based on adherence to key measures.

A notable addition this year is the Commitment to Quality award, awarded to 158 hospitals for high performance across multiple clinical areas. This award reflects a comprehensive approach to quality improvement in patient care. Donald Lloyd-Jones, M.D., Sc.M., FAHA, emphasized the importance of fast, coordinated, and science-based care in saving lives and improving recovery outcomes.

With over 14,500 awards distributed, the recognition spans all 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and Guam, illustrating widespread commitment to cardiovascular health. The Association's efforts, supported by its quality improvement programs, are pivotal in advancing patient care and reducing the impact of cardiovascular diseases.
