Biotech Startup Lionheart Health Advances in $101M XPRIZE Healthspan Competition
Lionheart Health has been selected as one of 40 semi-finalists in a global competition aimed at developing treatments to dramatically extend healthy human aging. The company's innovative bioelectric signaling technology could potentially restore multiple age-related declines in just one year.

Lionheart Health, a California-based biotechnology company, has been named a semi-finalist in the prestigious $101 million XPRIZE Healthspan Competition. Selected from 596 teams representing 53 countries, the company is developing a groundbreaking approach to extending human healthspan through advanced bioelectric signaling and stem cell technologies.
The competition challenges participants to develop a treatment that can restore muscle, cognitive, and immune function by a minimum of 10 years, with an ambitious goal of 20 years, for individuals aged 50-80. Lionheart Health's unique technology platform focuses on controlling protein release and regeneration through precise bioelectric signaling sequences.
Recent scientific research highlights the potential of the Klotho protein in aging processes. Studies have demonstrated that increasing Klotho levels can extend lifespan and improve cognitive function in animal models, including mice and nonhuman primates. Lionheart Health has developed bioelectrically enhanced biologics, including Klotho-expressing stem cells suspended in a proprietary nutrient hydrogel.
As a semi-finalist, the company has been awarded $250,000 and must now conduct a rigorous one-year clinical study supervised by an Institutional Review Board and data safety monitoring board. This next phase will be critical in demonstrating the potential of their healthspan extension protocol.
The company's long-term vision extends beyond this competition, with plans to develop a comprehensive whole-body regeneration technology and establish 124 MedSpa clinics specializing in longevity protocols. Their approach represents a significant potential breakthrough in addressing age-related decline and extending healthy human life.
