Quantum BioPharma Advances Multiple Sclerosis Drug Candidate Lucid-MS and Commercial Product unbuzzd™
Quantum BioPharma's lead drug Lucid-MS targets nerve damage in multiple sclerosis, with a Phase 2 trial upcoming, while its alcohol metabolism product unbuzzd™ generates royalty revenue.

Quantum BioPharma (NASDAQ: QNTM) (CSE: QNTM) is making strides in two key areas: its lead drug candidate Lucid-MS for multiple sclerosis and its commercial product unbuzzd™ for alcohol metabolism. The company was featured on the latest episode of The BioMedWire Podcast, where co-founder and executive co-chair Anthony Durkacz discussed the potential of Lucid-MS to address mobility loss associated with multiple sclerosis by targeting nerve damage, an area he believes remains unmet by currently available treatments.
Lucid-MS is a patented new chemical entity that has shown promise in preclinical models to prevent and reverse myelin degradation, the underlying mechanism of multiple sclerosis. Durkacz highlighted the company's upcoming Phase 2 clinical trial, which will be the first study to evaluate Lucid-MS in multiple sclerosis patients, following Phase 1 testing in healthy volunteers. This trial represents a critical step in validating the drug's efficacy in treating the neurodegenerative disease.
In addition to its pipeline, Quantum BioPharma has a commercial product unbuzzd™, designed to accelerate blood alcohol metabolism and currently available in the U.S. market. The company spun out the over-the-counter version to Unbuzzd Wellness Inc., led by industry veterans, but retains a 19.84% ownership stake (as of March 31, 2026) and a royalty agreement. Under the terms, Quantum receives 7% of sales from unbuzzd™ until payments total $250 million, after which the royalty drops to 3% in perpetuity. Quantum also retains 100% of the rights to develop similar products for pharmaceutical and medical uses.
The dual focus on a high-potential drug candidate and a revenue-generating consumer product provides Quantum with a balanced approach. The upcoming Phase 2 trial for Lucid-MS could be a pivotal moment, as there is a significant unmet need for therapies that address nerve damage and mobility loss in multiple sclerosis patients. Meanwhile, unbuzzd™ offers near-term revenue through royalties and ownership stake, supporting the company's financial position.
