Youth-Created Panther Sculpture Symbolizes Community Partnership for Cancer Research
Four young artists from Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County created a symbolic panther sculpture that merges art, community, and philanthropy to raise funds for cancer research through the Panthers on the Prowl initiative.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County has unveiled a symbolic panther sculpture created by four young artists as part of the Panthers on the Prowl campaign, an initiative that combines art, community engagement, and philanthropy to support cancer research, patient services, and advocacy programs. The sculpture, donated by Rita Case, president and CEO of Rick Case Automotive Group, represents a collaborative effort between the automotive group, the Florida Panthers hockey organization, and the American Cancer Society.
Gizele B., Samantha A., Valentina Laurel L., and Jeydilis L. from the Rita & Rick Case Boys & Girls Club dedicated four weeks to designing and decorating the panther sculpture. Their artwork incorporates multiple symbolic elements, including a road lined with Rick Case Automotive Group dealership brands along the panther's back, the Florida Panthers logo, American Cancer Society pink socks representing cancer fighting courage, and empowering words highlighting both cancer survivorship and the Boys & Girls Clubs mission. A membership card dangles from the panther's collar, symbolizing the organization's commitment to youth and community.
Natalie Chin Sue, lead art instructor, emphasized the deeper meaning behind the project, stating that it demonstrates how multiple organizations can collaborate to create positive change. The young artists named their creation Legacy on the Prowl to honor the community impact of Rita and Rick Case, highlight cancer research and awareness, and celebrate the Boys & Girls Clubs' lasting influence on youth across generations.
Rita Case expressed appreciation for how the artists incorporated both the Florida Panthers and her company's journey, noting that both organizations inspire the South Florida community to engage in philanthropy and make positive impacts. The sculpture will be featured during a special Panthers on the Prowl Night at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise during the 2025-2026 NHL season, celebrating both South Florida's hockey pride and the important cause of cancer research support.
The initiative represents a significant community partnership that leverages sports, automotive business, and youth engagement to address critical health issues. The Panthers on the Prowl campaign demonstrates how corporate entities, sports organizations, and community groups can collaborate effectively to raise awareness and funds for vital causes while providing meaningful opportunities for youth development and artistic expression.
